My Story
Everyone has a why when they go into politics. Mine is the compounded personal tragedy that came as a result of extremely poorly considered Canadian Liberal/NDP policies while I was living in Vancouver, BC.

In 2006/7, I had suffered a stroke as a result of a misdiagnosis at Vancouver General Hospital and was living in an assisted medical facility in Vancouver. Much like an ACME cartoon from the Far Side, the facility mixed disabled people with drug addicts and unvetted illegal immigrants. It was one of the later who raped me at that facility after asking for my help with his paperwork.

The facility, fully aware of its mistakes and potential liability, left me homeless after for a few weeks until I collapsed from an infection and had to hospitalized as a result of the assault. I went through two surgeries to repair internal damage. and require continued medical care which will probably be life long.
​
The Vancouver police failed to follow protocols and dropped the case without alerting me and when I finally found the courage and requested the police report, they had redacted the name of the rapist. There are no words to describe the trauma and fear I experienced as a direct result of this.
​
Medical care in liberal and NDP provinces suffer greatly. BC, for example, has NO grade A hospitals while Alberta has 11 grade A and A plus. In the ten plus years that the liberals/NDP governments have in power they have never addressed the fact that the largest hospital system in the province, Coastal Health - which includes the Vancouver General Hospital, is a grade D facility. (CBC Hospital Ratings), nor to they cover necessary medications for rape victims, even under special authority. It is time to end the hypocrisy in Canada, and move towards compassionate, common sense solutions.

My reasons to run, among many are to fix the broken health care systems, to bring sense back into the justice system, and to end the system induced cycle of homelessness and find solutions that create stability for those in challenging situations. To create a real system that addresses the needs of victims of crime, to address violence towards women, to find a balanced approach to parental/family rights, to address the misuse of the mental health system, to find stronger solutions to energy needs vs environmental responsibility, and to develop paths forward economically without sacrificing excellence - these are my reasons to run.
